Last week saw some great sport with the fish taking wide range of patterns. Lures of all types and a good variety of nymphs were working well, especially the natural patterns. It was nice to see the sun come out and warm things up for a while. It didn't last long however before we were back to the cold, wet and windy conditions that we have seen so much of lately. When the sun did shine we saw some wonderful dry fly fishing with midges, klinkhammers and parachutes doing well. Buzzers under an indicator did well at times too as did the squirmy worms. The fish were very high up and close in for most of last week and on Saturday many were caught within three metres off the bank using a black snake. They were definitely following the food blown by the wind for the most part and on a couple of the days the south bank saw lots of action which has not been the case for some time. The fish are very well spread out around the lake at the moment but as they are so close in there is not much to be gained by using a boat.
There will be another restock on Tuesday 30th of April which should liven things up even more and with warmer conditions promised we are expecting fish starting to take off the top. Pictures are of Bob Fleet Croft, Richard Hems and Warren Barwick.
