The first half of last week was hard going. The rain came down for most of the week and for the committed anglers who fished in it, it was often tough going. Despite the difficulty, fish were caught through the week with damsels, cats whiskers, buzzers and nymphs. It seemed most of the time the fish wanted as natural patterns as possible but also a pink snake or blob could work.
Towards the end of the week the weather settled down a bit with some nice breaks in the rain where it actually felt quite nice, especially on Sunday. On Sunday I happened to be fishing shoulder to shoulder with Richard Cutworth talking about how seldom the bigger fish get caught. Literally five minutes later he lands a brute of a fish that really took some effort to pull in. It ended up weighing in at 5lb 2ounces and I quickly took a picture and he put her back safely. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. Todays restock included a good number of +5lb rainbows and spring is slowly showing which is good news. Tight lines.
