With the lake stocked to capacity after the new arrivals last Tuesday, fishing over the last seven days has been terrific. While the new fish often wanted something colorful on or just below the surface such as a fab or a blob the older ones many times preferred something more natural like a buzzer or a nymph. With so many fish feeding high up in the water, emergers and dries worked great again last week. Things such as Daddies, hawthorns, hoppers and mayfly patterns could work very well at times if the fish were taking off the top. Emergers such as top hat buzzers, cdc's, shuttlecock buzzers and shipmans could also do the business.
The odd fish was also caught using a damsel, cat, bloodworm or snake. The most original fly that worked this week was tied by Bob Gurnham called the Noxie hopper that Bob created using the fur from his labrador Noxie.
The water level at the lake at the moment is lower than we would like but the fun and excitement couldn't be higher so come and join us. The picture is of Garth McCarron
